About
Shuai Jiao is a style of jacket wrestling from China, derived from Mongol Bökh (Mongolian Wrestling) and Manchurian style wrestling. Shuai Jiao is one of China's oldest martial art systems, predating many of the various Chinese martial arts styles; even Shaolin Kung Fu. Unlike its Bökh brother where there are no weight classes and time limits, Shuai Jiao implements a weight class and time limit system for ensuring the fairness to wrestlers. The Shuai Jiao uniform consists of a short sleeved jacket that is a thick cotton made material similar to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or Judo Gi's along with a belt, cotton canvas pants, and modern day wrestling shoes. Techniques used in Shuai Jiao are similar to that of Judo throws and sweeps, as well as catch wrestling.
